Who, What, Where, When, Why?

Oksana is going through a stage of asking constant questions. This is what I listen to all day long:

"What you doin'?"
"What Bella doin'?"
"What Clayton doin'?"
"What Evan doin'?"
"Where Daddy?"
"What Daddy doin'?"
"Who you talkin' to?"
"What you makin'?"
"What we havin'?"
"Why you say that?"
"Who that?"
"What that?"
"Where you goin'?"
"Where my ball?" (or insert any other object that is usually right in front of her)
"Why you doin' that?"
"Why?"
"Why?"
"Why?"
"Why?"
"Why?"

I know she is learning a lot through these questions but sometimes there just isn't an answer. For example, at least once a day we have this conversation:
Oksana enters bathroom: "What you doin'?"
Me: "Going potty"
Oksana: "Why?"

See what I mean?!

My special little guy asks a lot of questions too! We believe that he often asks questions just to be a part of the family more...he just wants to join in, but doesn't always really know what to say...so he asks questions...often questions that he knows the answers to already. We sometimes ask them right back to him....he'll ask, "Where are we going?" We'll ask, "Collin, where are we going?" He usually answers his own questions.

When he first started talking he would ask, "What do?" about everything. It was very cute.

Sometimes the incessant questions can wear on us...especially in the van on a trip or a longer ride into town. We'll very politely say,"Shhh...it's time for some quiet now." Or we turn on some music and kindly,"Shhhh."

Special children are so much fun! Never a dull moment for sure!

Sounds like she & Daniel are going through the same phase! His favorite is "what you tryin' do?" and everything lately is greeted with "WHY?"
I agree with Dana that a lot of times it's a way to be involved in conversation. His conversational skills still have miles to go, but by asking questions, he's getting an idea of what's going on AND getting himself involved. I also think he's taking an active interest and finally showing a greater desire to be involved in anything that's going on. While the questions drive me crazy, I'm thankful that it's a step forward, beyond just being there in a physical sense, but isolating himself otherwise.
But sometimes I do have to ask him for a few minutes of quiet :)

Me thinks that Oksana and Aaron would enjoy each others company!! Why is Aaron's favorite word right now. Why Why Why!!! I guess they spent all those years in a world where no one ever talked to them much less answered the 'why's' in their world. So we get the full force of their questions. Precious precious....

every single mornin of his life Andre wakes up and says morning Mama. What today eat? not whats for breakfast but whats for dinner! I dont always know and even if I do know he probably wont like it anyways. (which explains the 3T pants on the 7 year old) why why why is about 4 year old level I believe, which means that Oksana is learning and growing! Andre is at a 4 year old level. but making great strides. here's hoping our why why why 4's move forward at a rapid pace!

My son also asks repeatedly about his day. Mom bus (mom put me on bus), mom, shower; mom, dressed, etc. We have learned that the three steps (Agent Oso, bless you!) are really helpful to lay out his day so he isn't surprised. Also, we learned "say it only one time" to stop the constant repetition of questions. It is okay sometimes, not okay others, so with that phrase, he understands that it isn't okay.

He, too, likes the inclusion of conversation and that's his way of chatting.
